I'm sitting here thinking about this time last year reflecting on a memory,
a memory that is so very precious to me now.
I remember chatting to mum on the phone saying how I would love to
take you to the showdown, but getting tickets would be near impossible
as it was a sell out game. Mums words "leave it to me" made me smile
thinking there is no way she will pull this off. Everyone that knows Mum,
knows that she not one to give up and she made it
her mission to grant me my wish.
After many days she called to tell me that she has two tickets for Dad
and myself to attend the game. A local radio station had organized
for the Port Power Football club to donate the tickets
to the Adelaide football club which would be passed on to us,
nothing short of a miracle.
The day of the game you were not well and as sick as you were you
wanted to create a memory one for me to always treasure.
I have always been a one eyed Crows supporter and as much as
you denied it you were a very keen Port supporter.
I still remember that laugh you gave when I put a crows scarf
around your neck and how proudly you wore it just for me.
You were smiling when I was looking and assuring me you were OK
but I could see you the pain you were in.
I am so very grateful to of spent that time with you however
if I could go back in time I would of insisted that we watched the
game on television at home were you would of been comfortable.
